BALTIMORE – The chief assistant to the Episcopal Diocesan Bishop says Bishop Suffragan Heather Cook called him after hitting a bicyclist with her car.
About 100 clergy members with the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland met Tuesday to get information from the Right Rev. Eugene Taylor Sutton about the crash Cook was involved in.
On Dec. 27, Cook struck and killed 41-year-old Tom Palermo as he was riding his bicycle in Baltimore. Police say the driver left the scene for 20 minutes before returning. No charges have been filed.
According to a summary of the report posted on the diocese's website, the Rev. Scott Slater, chief assistant to Sutton, said Cook called him shortly after the accident. Slater said Cook told him she thought she had hit a bicyclist and was in shock.
