GADSDEN, Ala. -- The body of a 44-year-old nursing supervisor at Riverview Regional Medical Center's emergency department has been found in the trunk of her car in Gadsden.

The body of Carla Smith of Attalla was found Monday afternoon by personnel with an ambulance company. The car was parked in a gravel lot.

Etowah County Coroner Michael Gladden says Smith wore scrubs and appeared to be dressed for work. He says there were no obvious signs of what might have caused her death and her body was sent to Huntsville for an autopsy to be performed by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.

Gadsden Police Capt. Jeff Wright says Smith most likely was killed somewhere else and the car was dropped off at the lot.
