Abduction suspect who shot at sheriff's deputy in southeastern Wisconsin captured

Authorities have captured a fugitive accused of abducting a woman from a southeastern Wisconsin hospital and fleeing in an exchange of gunfire.

The Racine County sheriff's office confirmed the man's capture Monday. The sheriff's office says in a news release that authorities tracked the suspect to the Village of Mount Pleasant outside Racine, where he was hiding in bushes. The released provide additional details.

Authorities say the man abducted a female employee at Lakeview Specialty Hospital and Rehab near Rochester about 3 p.m. Sunday.

Sheriff Christopher Schmaling said deputies spotted the man's vehicle about an hour later at a grocery store.

Schmaling says as a squad car approached, the 20-year-old man fired several rounds. No one was shot. As the man fled, he left the woman in the parking lot
