Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Game 1 starter Jason Vargas was one of two players added by the Kansas City Royals for their American League Division Series against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Vargas was not one of nine pitchers active for Kansas City's thrilling 9-8, 12-inning win over Oakland in Tuesday's AL wild card game, but the left-hander will toe the rubber opposite Jered Weaver in Thursday's opener of the best-of- five ALDS.

Reliever Tim Collins was also put on the roster for this round, with manager Ned Yost leaving veteran outfielder Raul Ibanez and infielder Jayson Nix off to make room for Collins and Vargas.

The Royals will have 11 active pitchers to face the Angels, with starters Yordano Ventura, James Shields, Jeremy Guthrie and Danny Duffy joined by a bullpen group of closer Greg Holland, Wade Davis, Kelvin Herrera, rookie Brandon Finnegan, Jason Frasor and Collins.

Salvador Perez and Erik Kratz remain the Royals' lone two catchers, with Eric Hosmer, Omar Infante, Alcides Escobar, Mike Moustakas, Billy Butler and Christian Colon comprising the infielders. The outfielders will consist of Alex Gordon, Lorenzo Cain, Nori Aoki, Jarrod Dyson, Josh Willingham and Terrance Gore.
