Detroit, MI – Detroit Tigers pitcher Doug Fister will not make his scheduled start in Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim as he recovers from a groin injury.
The Tigers are expected to recall pitcher Drew Smyly from Triple-A Toledo to take Fister's place.
Fister, who has already spent two stints on the disabled list this season, has a 7-8 record with a 3.67 ERA in 19 starts for Detroit.
Smyly is 4-3 with a 4.42 earned run average in 15 starts this year for the Tigers.
