TCU forward Devonta Abron will miss entire 2013-14 season with torn Achilles tendon

TCU forward Devonta Abron will miss the upcoming season after tearing his Achilles tendon.

Horned Frogs officials confirmed Tuesday that Abron got hurt earlier this month when the team played games in Canada.

The 6-foot-8 Abron last season as a sophomore averaged 7.4 points and 5.9 rebounds. He shot 53 percent from the field in his first season at TCU after transferring from Arkansas.

Abron appeared in 32 games for Arkansas as a freshman before leaving to be closer to his home in Seagoville, Texas, about an hour from the TCU campus.

He was granted a waiver from the NCAA that made him eligible to play immediately for the Horned Frogs rather than have to sit out the usual one season.
