St. Etienne captain Loic Perrin will be sidelined six months after he ruptured knee ligaments in his team's Coupe de la Ligue win against Les Verts on Wednesday.

Perrin was injured early in the second half of the 3-1 win, and his injury is a blow to St. Etienne. The French midfielder played for his nation at both the Under-19 and U-21 levels, and has made more than 150 appearances for Etienne.

"It's a blow for Loic, who's down in the dumps," St. Etienne coach Christophe Galtier said. "I'm sure he'll face up to the situation, and come back stronger and in even better shape after the winter break."

Alejandro Alonso and Yoann Andreu were previously lost to similar injuries.
