Philadelphia, PA – The Philadelphia 76ers and guard Jrue Holiday have agreed to terms on a multi-year contract extension. The team announced the pact shortly after Wednesday's season-opening 84-75 win over Denver.
Terms of the contract were not disclosed, though the Philadelphia Daily News reported it was worth $41 million over four years.
"I'm ecstatic to continue playing in Philadelphia," Holiday said. "I'm going to keep putting in the work and pushing myself every day in order to bring a championship to the city and our fans."
Philadelphia's first-round selection (17th overall) in the 2009 NBA Draft, Holiday has averaged 11.9 points, 5.0 assists and 3.3 rebounds over his first three seasons. The 22-year-old scored at a 13.5 points-per-game clip through 65 contests in 2011-12, and has averaged 15.4 points, 5.3 assists and 4.4 rebounds in 18 career postseason games.
"Jrue is both an outstanding player and an important part of our future," said Sixers managing owner Josh Harris. "We are very excited to keep a player of Jrue's caliber in Philadelphia and truly look forward to further building the 76ers legacy around his leadership."
