Wayne Rooney's three-match suspension for the Euro 2012 finals was reduced to two matches by UEFA on Thursday, allowing the English striker to participate in the final game of group play.

Rooney will not be eligible for the first two games against France and Sweden, but could return for the Group D finale against co-host Ukraine, if he is part of the England squad.

UEFA previously suspended Rooney three games following a red card in the final match of qualifying against Montenegro for a foul on Miodrag Dzudovic that was deemed worthy of a red card.

Rooney's ban was reduced on the condition of good behavior over the next four years.

The tournament starts June 8 when co-host Poland kicks off against 2004 winner Greece. The final is July 1.
