on-Trent, England (Sports Network) - Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has been fined approximately $16,000 by the English Football Association for comments made about referee Lee Probert after a Carling Cup tie against Liverpool last month.

Pulis addressed the FA's decision in a statement released via Stoke City's official website.

"I am very disappointed with the outcome," Pulis said. "I have requested written reasons and I am considering an appeal."

Pulis criticized Probert for not issuing a red card to Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher for a challenge on Stoke winger Matthew Etherington and failing to award Stoke a penalty for a foul on Peter Crouch.
