Rodrigo Palacio came off the bench to help Inter Milan come from two goals down at halftime to claim a 3-2 win at Catania on Sunday.

Palacio scored the equalizing goal for Inter 20 minutes from time after Ricardo Alvarez found the net for the Nerazzurri early in the second half.

But the match remained level until stoppage time when Palacio took a pass from Esteban Cambiasso and beat goalkeeper Mariano Andujar to complete a memorable comeback.

The win lifts Inter to within one point of third-place AC Milan and is the club's second victory in the last seven games.

Inter couldn't have gotten off to a worse start as goals from Gonzalo Bergessio and Giovanni Marchese in the first 20 minutes appeared to put Catania on its way to three points.

However, Palacio entered the contest at halftime and Inter turned things around with a goal from Alvarez in the 52nd minute when he headed home Palacio's cross.

Alvaro Pereira played provider for Palacio 20 minutes from time when he offered up a cross that was nodded past Andujar by the Argentinean.

And the comeback was complete two minutes into stoppage time as Palacio secured the win with his late goal, reviving Inter's Champions League hopes.

Fiorentina 2, Chievo 1

Florence, Italy - Fiorentina's bid for a European place got a boost on Sunday as substitute Marcelo Larrondo headed home the winning goal in the 78th minute of the club's 2-1 win over Chievo at the Artemio Franchi.

A run of three losses in five games dropped the Viola down the table a bit, but three points on Sunday leaves the club in sixth place and just three points adrift of third-place AC Milan.

The home side started brightly with Manuel Pasqual finding the net from a well-taken free kick in the fourth minute.

Chievo found its way back to level terms before the break when a right-wing cross from Roberto Guana picked out Isaac Cofie, who tucked the ball inside the right post.

Fiorentina was the more dangerous side in the second half, and Larrondo netted the winner 12 minutes from time when Pasqual's free kick found the head of Luca Toni, who nodded it strongly into the path of Larrondo for a close-range finish.

Bologna 3, Cagliari 0

Bologna, Italy - Bologna brought an end to Cagliari's seven-game unbeaten streak on Sunday with a 3-0 home win, and in the process moved 11 points clear of the relegation places.

It took Bologna only five minutes to seize the advantage when Saphir Taider exchanged passes with Alberto Gilardino and slotted his shot past goalkeeper Michael Agazzi.

The Cagliari goalkeeper was helpless to keep out a rocket from Alessandro Diamanti in the 18th minute which flew into the upper corner of the net, handing Bologna a 2-0 lead that never looked to be under any threat.

Cagliari's Francesco Pisano was sent off in the 57th minute for a poor challenge on Archimede Morleo, and Cristian Pasquato put the finishing touches on the win in stoppage time with a goal of his own.

Sampdoria 1, Parma 0

Genoa, Italy - Sampdoria and Parma continue to head in opposite directions as a second-half tally from Mauro Icardi on Sunday was the difference in a 1-0 victory for Sampdoria at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.

The result extends Sampdoria's unbeaten run to six games, while Parma has now gone eight games without a win.

Andrea Coda thought he had given Parma the lead in the 17th minute but his goal was ruled out for offsides.

Sampdoria hadn't done much to trouble Parma goalkeeper Antonio Mirante in the first half, but Icardi took advantage of his error in the 58th minute to net the winning goal.

Mirante attempted to come off his line to collect Marcelo Estigarribia's free kick, but instead Icardi got there and was left with a simple tap-in.

Atalanta 2, Siena 0

Siena, Italy - Atalanta took a big step toward securing Serie A safety on Sunday as Giacomo Bonaventura scored a goal on each side of halftime in a 2-0 win over Siena.

The victory moves Atalanta nine points clear of the drop zone, while Siena remains in 18th place and five points from safety.

Bonaventura got the game started with a bang inside of three minutes when he collected a pass from German Denis and smashed a shot into the top corner of the net from the edge of the penalty area.

Siena had chances to level the match but failed to take any of them, and Bonaventura doubled the lead midway through the second half when he scored on a nice counter attack move involving Marko Livaja and Cristian Raimondi.

Torino 0, Palermo 0

Turin, Italy - Another game, another point for Palermo as the club played to a 0-0 draw at Torino on Sunday.

Palermo has now drawn six of its last seven games to sit in a three-way tie for the bottom spot in Serie A, five points from safety.

Torino had the better chances in the contest and nearly went ahead early on as Rolando Bianchi's volley struck the post.

Palermo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino then needed to be sharp in the final minutes to preserve a point for his team, first denying Bianchi and then keeping out a shot from Riccardo Meggiorini with his foot.

Udinese 1, Pescara 0

Pescara, Italy - Pescara slipped to the bottom of Serie A on Sunday as Antonio Di Natale's eighth-minute goal was enough for a 1-0 win over the home side at the Adriatico.

Pescara had earned only one point from its last seven games ahead of Sunday's contest, and it took only eight minutes for the hosts to fall behind when Luis Muriel's cross was finished off at close range by Di Natale for his 15th goal of the campaign.

Udinese could have doubled its lead late in the game as Loureiro Allan went close, while Pescara was limited to long-range efforts that never really troubled Udinese goalkeeper Zeljko Brkic.

Roma 3, Genoa 1

Rome, Italy - Roma put an end to Genoa's five-game unbeaten run in Serie A play on Sunday by grabbing a 3-1 victory at the Stadio Olimpico.

Francesco Totti and Marco Borriello traded first-half penalties, but it was Alessio Romagnoli and Simone Perrotta producing the goods in the second half to power the home side to all three points.

Roma has won three league fixtures in a row to improve to 43 points while Genoa stays on 26 points, just five points clear of the drop zone.
