Fargo, ND – Tight end Matt Veldman was one of six North Dakota State University seniors who participated in a pro day on Wednesday before scouts representing seven NFL teams.
The 6-foot-7 Veldman is considered to have the best chance from the 2011 FCS national championship squad to be drafted during the three-day event April 24-26 in New York.
"To play in the NFL is something I've dreamed about all my life," Veldman said. "The last two months I've been training really hard. I feel blessed, extremely blessed to get this opportunity.
Running back D.J. McNorton, free safeties John Pike and Daniel Eaves, defensive end Coulter Boyer and kicker Ryan Jastram were measured, timed and evaluated in a variety of drills at the Fargodome. Pike is expected to leave next week to play professional football in Germany.
"It's an opportunity for these seniors to really measure their physical skills. They're gaining a great deal of exposure, which is good for them and good for NDSU," said head football coach Craig Bohl, whose team went 14-1 last season.
