Irving, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Dallas Cowboys and punter Chris Jones have agreed to terms on a new three-year contract that will run through the 2017 season.

Jones, entering his fourth season as the Cowboys' regular punter, had just signed a $1.54 million restricted free agent tender for the 2015 campaign. The new deal will allow the team to reduce that cap number while increasing Jones' guaranteed money over the next three seasons.

The 25-year-old Jones has averaged 45.0 yards per punt with a 40.0 net average over 38 games with Dallas. He first joined the Cowboys as a two-game injury replacement for Mat McBriar in 2011, then punted in four games the following season before landing on injured reserve.
