Republican politics took center stage on a few occasions at the 67th Emmy Awards.
Host Andy Samberg touched briefly on the political scene in his opening monologue.
"Sure, Donald Trump seems racist," he said. "What else?"
Samberg also added: "Donald Trump is running for president ... to the delight of uncles everywhere."
Later on the show, Julia Louis-Dreyfus won the Emmy for Outstanding actress in a comedy series, her fourth win in a row in the prestigious category.
On stage, Louis-Dreyfus started her acceptance speech with what she said was a line taken from a speech her character gave on the popular political comedy.
“What a great honor it must be for you to honor me tonight,” she recited. “Oh no wait, Donald Trump said that. It’s getting trickier and trickier to satirize this stuff.”
The comedy team Key and Peele followed with a dig at the most recent GOP debate.
"There is one category of TV that allows us as a society to sit back and enjoy the simple spectacle of reality," Peele said.
Key responded, "A strange reality, where people can’t seem to say two words without throwing each other under the bus," to which Peele added, "A reality where a panel of millionaires fight like sharks to be chosen by average middle class Americans."
Amy Schumer's team of writers were announced for their Emmy nominations by a Donald Trump-esque sounding voice, with The Donald himself superimposed on photos of each writer, ending with: "That bimbo, Amy Schumer."
