FALL RIVER, Mass. – A crime lab scientist testifying in the murder trial of former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez has testified that his DNA matched DNA found on a cigarette butt at the crime scene.
Diane Fife Biagiotti (bee-ah-JHAH'-tee) of the Massachusetts state police crime lab, testified Friday.
Hernandez is charged with murder in the June 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd, who was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancee. Lloyd's body was found in an industrial park near Hernandez's home. Prosecutors have said previously a marijuana cigarette was found near his bullet-riddled body.
Biagiotti said she was able to deduce that both Hernandez and Lloyd's DNA were on the butt.
She said the statistical likelihood it was Hernandez was one in more than a quadrillion. That's one with 15 zeros after it.
