JASPER, Tenn. – A joint police investigation has led to the arrest of a Tennessee assistant football coach who is accused of painting his team's field house with vulgarities and making it seem like the work of a rival team.
The Chattanooga Times Free Press (http://bit.ly/1j4JrJU ) reports that Marion County High School teacher Michael Schmitt is charged with vandalism. It reports the arrest came as a result of a joint investigation by Jasper police and the sheriff's department.
The Associated Press could not determine whether Schmitt has a court date or a lawyer and could not find a phone listing.
Administrators found the field house defaced before its championship game against cross-town rival South Pittsburg on Nov. 1. Officials say vulgarities were painted on side doors and the backside in South Pittsburg's colors. South Pittsburg won the game.
