A former nanny for a Boston family has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $280,000 from her employers and using the money on vacations, jewelry and other luxuries.

Stephanie Lee Fox, of Randolph, pleaded guilty Tuesday to three counts of bank fraud.

The 30-year-old was hired to care for the couple's two children. Federal prosecutors say she forged checks stolen from the family, cashed them in amounts up to $9,785, and then shredded bank statements to conceal the thefts.

Fox was ordered to repay the money. Her lawyer says she has "taken responsibility" but is currently unemployed.

Prosecutors say Fox has already turned over three Movado watches and a diamond pendant she bought with the money.

She is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 18.
