MINNEAPOLIS – Jurors are back in a Minneapolis courthouse deliberating a case that alleges the 1996 Toyota Camry had a design defect that caused a crash that killed three people in 2006.
The jury received the case Wednesday and deliberated all day Thursday and Friday without reaching a verdict. Jurors resumed their discussion Monday.
The plaintiffs include crash victims and Koua (KOO'-uh) Fong Lee, who says he tried to stop his 1996 Camry before crashing into another vehicle in St. Paul.
Lee was convicted of vehicular homicide and sent to prison, but he was released after reports surfaced that suggested some Toyota cars had sudden acceleration problems. He later sued.
The jurors must decide whether Toyota's design had an unreasonably dangerous defect, and if it did, whether it caused the crash.
