DENVER – Liz Reynolds says life is getting back to normal a week after an escaped prisoner held her hostage in her home on Colorado's eastern plains.
Reynolds told Denver's KUSA-TV says she was doing her normal chores around her home near Yuma Aug. 25 when she walked back in her house and found 48-year-old Douglas Alward.
Alward escaped Aug. 22 from a maximum-security prison in Sterling, in northeastern Colorado.
Reynolds says she knew immediately who Alward was. She says Alward tied her hands behind her back and made her stay near him.
Authorities say Alward surrendered after holding Reynolds in her home for about two hours.
He was serving a 20- to 40-year sentence for attempted murder, assault, burglary and kidnapping when he escaped.
