Chicago Woman Charged With Assault After Pelting Husband With Cupcakes

Sweet treats turned sour for a Chicago woman when she was charged with domestic battery after allegedly pelting her husband with cupcakes.

Arturo Montesdeoca, 56, called police after his wife, Dawn Montesdeoca, 60, began to hit him during an argument at their home late Saturday, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

The verbal argument turned violent when Dawn Montesdeoca reached for a box of the desserts and began throwing them at her husband one by one, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Arturo Montesdeoca said he was "in fear" of his wife and he wanted her arrested after police arrived at his home and found his head and shirt smeared with cupcake icing and crumbs.

Police said in a report of the incident that Dawn Montesdeoca had admitted the cupcake assault when questioned.

She faced Cook County Circuit Judge Adam D. Bourgeois Jr. on Sunday morning and he ordered electronic monitoring and set her bail at $10,000. She was charged with a misdemeanor count of domestic battery.
