Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Washington Wizards signed veteran forward Drew Gooden to a 10-day contract on Wednesday.

Gooden, 32, has averaged 11.8 points and 7.6 rebounds in 687 career games with Memphis, Orlando, Cleveland, Chicago, Sacramento, San Antonio, Dallas, the Los Angeles Clippers and Milwaukee.

The Kansas product was selected fourth overall by the Grizzlies in the 2002 draft.

"We will rely on all of our frontcourt players to step up and contribute as we go through this stretch without Nene," Wizards president Ernie Grunfeld said in a statement. "Signing Drew gives us size, shooting ability and experience to add to that mix."

Nene is expected to miss approximately six weeks with an MCL sprain in his left knee.
