Travis Lee scored 28 points and Bernard Toombs added 18 and 10 rebounds as Troy defeated South Alabama 72-59 on Thursday night.

The Trojans (6-17, 4-7 Sun Belt Conference) led 38-31 at halftime and extended their lead in the second, thanks to a 66.7-percent shooting performance (14 of 21).

Troy stretched its lead to 18, 70-52, on a jumper by Levan Patsatsia with 7 minutes left to play. The Trojans had lost four of their previous five contests and avenged an 83-78 loss to South Alabama on Jan. 27.

Vernon Taylor added 13 points for Troy and extended his consecutive free throws streak to 24, finishing 2 of 2 from the line. Earl Pettis (29) of La Salle and Jon Leuer (25) of Wisconsin are the only players with longer active streaks.

Martino Brock scored 20 points, Allyn Cooks added 12 and Augustine Rubit grabbed 13 rebounds for South Alabama (10-13, 4-8).
