Philadelphia, PA – PGA TOUR - PGA CHAMPIONSHIP - Oak Hill Country Club (East Course), Rochester, New York - The PGA Tour heads to New York this week for the final major of the season, the PGA Championship.
Rory McIlroy set the record for the largest margin of victory to claim his second major title at this event last season when he closed with a 6-under 66 on Sunday to earn an 8-stroke victory over David Lynn.
Jack Nicklaus held the previous record when he won the PGA by seven shots in 1980.
McIlroy's victory propelled him back into the No. 1 spot in the world rankings, a spot he has since relinquished to Tiger Woods.
McIlroy would go on to win two more PGA events in 2012, but his 2013 season has been less than stellar. The Ulsterman does have four top-10 finishes this season, but has also missed four cuts and withdrew from the Honda Classic in February, citing a sore wisdom tooth as the cause.
This week's field will include 99 of the top 100 players in the world, but none are entering the tournament with more momentum than Woods.
Woods is coming off a 7-stroke victory at the WGC - Bridgestone Invitational last week that was propelled by a 61 on Friday that all but sealed the win before the weekend. The victory was Woods' fifth on the PGA Tour this season and first since the Players Championship in May.
Woods, however, has not won a major championship since the 2008 U.S. Open.
Also in the field will be reigning major champions Phil Mickelson, Justin Rose and Adam Scott. The lone member of the top 100-ranked players will be No. 12 Louis Oosthuizen, who has been bothered by back and neck injuries.
TNT will have full television coverage of the first two rounds and early on the weekend before handing coverage over to CBS for the afternoon.
The PGA Tour heads south to North Carolina next week for the Wyndham Championship, where Sergio Garcia earned a 2-stroke victory over Tim Clark last year.

PRICE CUTTER CHARITY CHAMPIONSHIP - Highland Springs Country Club, Springfield, Missouri - The Web.com Tour moves to Missouri this week for the Price Cutter Charity Championship.
Chris Wilson birdied the first playoff hole last year to beat Scott Harrington and earn his first Web.com Tour win.
Wilson will return to defend his title this week against a field that includes seven previous winners on tour this season and the Web.com's all-time leader in wins, Jason Gore.
There will be no television coverage this week.
The Web.com Tour travels to Tennessee next week for the News Sentinel Open, where Darron Stiles carded a 4-under 67 during the final round last year to hold off Scott Gardiner, D.J. Brigman and Nicholas Thompson by a single stroke.
PGA TOUR CANADA
ATB FINANCIAL CLASSIC - Country Hills Golf Club (Talons Course), Calgary, Alberta - The PGA Tour Canada returns from a two-week absence for the ATB Financial Classic, which will be played from Tuesday through Friday.
The event was originally scheduled for June 20-23, but was postponed due to torrential rains and flooding in the Calgary area.
Michael Gligic parred the second playoff hole last year to defeat Matt Marshall and claim his first victory on the PGA Tour Canada.
Gligic will be back to defend his title against a field that includes the four tournament winners this season -- Stephen Gangluff, Wil Collins, Riley Wheeldon and Carlos Sainz, Jr.
There will be no television coverage.
The PGA Tour Canada moves to Ontario in two weeks for The Great Waterway Classic in Morrisburg, where Eugene Wong captured the 2012 title.
