STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Bryan Dougher and Leonard Hayes each scored 15 points and Stony Brook routed Hartford 69-35 on Saturday.
The Seawolves (8-12, 3-5 America East Conference) led from start to finish, holding the cold-shooting Hawks (7-14, 4-4) to 24 percent from the field (12 of 50). Hartford's leading scorers, Morgan Sabia and Joe Zeglinski, went into the game averaging 15 and 14.4 points, respectively, but combined for four — all on Sabia's free throws — and went 0 for 12 from the field.
Milton Burton had 10 points to lead Hartford, which suffered its most lopsided defeat of the season and its worst loss since an 87-46 drubbing by Boston University in the first round of the America East tournament last March 6.
Stony Brook outrebounded Hartford 41-29 and made 11 of 25 from beyond the arc, including 5 of 10 by Dougher. Hartford went 2 of 22 on 3-pointers.
