Gary Flowers scored 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Southern Mississippi over Tulane 68-54 on Saturday.

The Golden Eagles (12-8, 2-5 Conference USA) trailed 17-16 before scoring 12 straight to lead 28-17 on Maurice Bolden's free throws with 3:31 to go in the first half.

The Green Wave (16-5, 5-3), which lost their fifth straight, wouldn't get any closer than five points the rest of the way.

R.L. Horton added 12 points and Bolden finished with 11 for Southern Miss.

The Golden Eagles outrebounded Tulane 42-26, scored 17 on second-chance points and 24 in the paint.

Southern Miss shot 42.9 percent (21 of 49), while holding the Green Wave to 37.7 percent (20 of 33), including 8 of 21 in the first half (38.1 percent).

Jordan Callahan led Tulane with 20 points, going 6 of 11 from 3-point range. Kendall Timmons added 18 points for Tulane.
