Gary Redus scored 26 points and South Alabama defeated Western Kentucky 80-76 on Thursday night.

Redus, who scored 19 in the second half, made two free throws with 7.3 seconds left to seal it for the Jaguars (10-11, 4-6 Sun Belt Conference).

The Hilltoppers (9-12, 4-5) had chances to take the lead late but free-throw shooting proved costly. They shot just 11 of 22 from the line in a game which featured eight ties and 15 lead changes.

South Alabama snapped a six-game losing skid to the Hilltoppers, including an 84-75 loss on Jan. 20.

Redus, who was 9 of 11 from the field, including 5 of 6 from behind the 3-point arc, has now made 14 3s in his last three games. The Jaguars finished shooting 10 of 18 from 3-point range.

Martino Brock added 16 points for the Jaguars.

Sergio Kerusch and Steffphon Pettigrew had 18 points each for the Hilltoppers.
