CROMWELL, Conn. – Webb Simpson says it never crossed his mind to take the week off after winning the U.S. Open.
Simpson took a red-eye flight from California on Sunday night to get to Connecticut this week for the Travelers Championship.
It's a tournament he says he feels loyal to after receiving a sponsor's exemption here as a young golfer in 2008.
Simpson says he believes it will be good for him to get back inside the ropes and play.
Simpson will be paired in Thursday's first round with Master's champion Bubba Watson and reigning PGA Champion Keegan Bradley.
He says it will give him a chance to get back at Bradley's caddie, Steven Hale, who he suspects of putting a pair of bananas in his golf shoes before Sunday's final round.
