Roma continued its best start in club history on Sunday with a convincing 5-0 win over Bologna at the Stadio Olimpico led by two goals from Gervinho.

Roma has now won its first six games in Serie A to sit two points clear at the top of the league, while Bologna is still searching for its first victory and resides in the bottom three.

It didn't take the home side long to seize control of the match as a long- range shot from Miralem Pjanic was parried straight into the path of Alessandro Florenzi, who easily scored on the rebound in the eighth minute.

Gervinho doubled the advantage in the 17th when he controlled a pass from Francesco Totti and beat goalkeeper Gianluca Curci at his near post.

Totti had a hand in Roma's third goal as well when his corner kick picked out Mehdi Benatia in the middle of the box and he volleyed home Roma's third goal in the opening 25 minutes.

A nice piece of individual skill from Gervinho in the second half led to another goal for the former Arsenal man, while Adem Ljajic capped the scoring five minutes from time by scoring from a tight angle.

Roma has outscored its opposition 17-1 through six games, while Juventus stayed within two points of the leaders on Sunday thanks to a second-half goal from Paul Pogba in a 1-0 derby victory against Torino.

Inter Milan fell four points back of Roma after being held to a 1-1 draw at Cagliari as the Nerazzurri conceded the equalizer to Radja Nainggolan seven minutes from time.

German Denis scored both goals in Atalanta's 2-0 win over Udinese, Catania notched its first win of the season with goals from Jaroslav Plasil and Lucas Castro in a 2-0 triumph over Chievo, Jorginho's 74th-minute penalty kick was the difference as Hellas Verona turned back Livorno, 2-1, while Sassuolo came from two goals down in the second half to claim a 2-2 draw with Lazio as Antonio Floro Flores tallied the equalizer in the 76th minute.
