Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Jonathan Quick made 17 saves to help the Los Angeles Kings take a 2-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Monday.

Jeff Carter and Jake Muzzin each had a goal for the Kings, who have ripped off five straight wins.

"We didn't give up much," Quick said. "We didn't give up many opportunities. We want to stick to playing that way. It was a big win but we've got to move on now."

P.K. Subban scored the only goal of the game for the Canadiens, who had won five of six coming in. Peter Budaj stopped 20 shots in the loss.

"It was a disappointing game for us," Budaj said. "We were right there with them just one or two lucky bounces."

With the score tied in the second, the Kings took a 2-1 lead on the power play. Alec Martinez sent the puck from the right point to the right circle where Anze Kopitar backhanded the puck to the left circle for a one-timer by Carter.

Quick stopped five shots in the second, then eight in the third as he helped the team kill off an early penalty from Carter for the win.

Los Angeles drew first blood at just 1:54 of the first period as a rush play saw Muzzin take a pass in the middle and wrist it home for his fifth of the season.

Montreal tied the game at 14:45 of the first as Subban threw the puck on net from the right point where it hit off the stick of Quick then the skate of Jarret Stoll and in.
