Stoke-by-Nayland, England (Sports Network) - Chris Paisley closed with a 1- under 71 on Sunday to win the English Challenge by two strokes.
Paisley, who won for the first time on the Challenge Tour, finished at 16- under-par 272 at Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf & Spa.
He had seven pars and a birdie through eight holes. Paisley birdied the ninth and 10th to get to 18-under. After dropping shots at 11 and 13, Paisley birdied the 14th and 16th to recover those lost strokes.
Francis McGuirk eagled the par-5 16th to jump to 14-under, but was still four back. He parred the last two, while Paisley bogeyed the final two holes to cut his winning margin to two.
McGuirk posted a 2-under 70 to grab second at minus-14. Last week's winner, Espen Kofstad, shot 71 on Sunday to end alone in third at 12-under 276. Nick Dougherty was one shot further back at minus-11 after a final-round 69.
The final round was completed despite a pair of weather delays.
