New Jersey forward Shawne Williams had successful left foot surgery on Wednesday, the Nets announced in a release.

He will miss the remainder of the 2011-12 season.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Martin O'Malley and Nets team physician Dr. Riley Williams III at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. The procedure involved inserting three screws to repair an old fracture and removing two small bone fragments.

The Nets expect Williams to make a full recovery prior to the start of training camp next season.

The former first-round pick appeared in 25 contests this season, starting six, and averaged 4.5 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.
