Muguruza, Zakopalova reach final in Brazil

Florianopolis, Brazil (SportsNetwork.com) - Second seed Garbine Muguruza and third-seeded Klara Zakopalova will be the combatants in Saturday's final at the $250,000 Brasil Tennis Cup.

The Czech veteran Zakopalova upset top-seeded Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, while the rising Spaniard Muguruza whipped Kazakhstan's Yaroslava Shvedova 6-2, 6-3 at this clay court event.

The hot Zakopalova is fresh off her runner-up finish in Rio de Janeiro last week.

Muguruza and Zakopalova have split two career meetings, with the Czech taking their first clash two years ago in Seoul.

The 20-year-old Venezuelan-born Muguruza reached her first-ever WTA final in Hobart last month, capturing a title in Australia by beating Zakopalova in the final.

The 32-year-old Zakopalova is 2-12 in her career finals, with both titles coming nine long years ago. She's a two-time WTA runner-up this season, including the loss to Muguruza in Hobart.
