Fontvieille, Monaco (SportsNetwork.com) - Monaco forward Anthony Marital has signed a long-term contract extension with the principality club on Monday, keeping him at the Stade Louis II until 2018.

Monaco manager Claudio Ranieri signed the 18-year-old from Lyon and he has made seven appearances for the club this season, scoring two goals.

The striker suffered a sprained ankle during Monaco's defeat to Valenciennes in December and has been sidelined ever since. However, he is close to making a return to full fitness and was an unused substitute in their 2-0 win over Marseille on Sunday.

With star forward Radamel Falcao out long term due to an ACL tear, Marital figures to see more first-team action as Monaco tries to keep pace with Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain.

Monaco sit second in Ligue 1, three points behind Laurent Blanc's charges and could have a chance to wipe out that deficit when the sides meet in Monaco in two weeks.
