DETROIT (Reuters) - Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, the second pick in the NFL draft, emerged unhurt from a car accident, police said on Friday.

Suh was driving on a busy road in the Detroit suburb of Royal Oak on Thursday when he collided with another vehicle that pulled out in front of him at an intersection, a spokesman for the Royal Oak Police Department told Reuters.

The driver of the other car was cited with a traffic violation and Suh's vehicle had to be towed away.

Suh is considered a key player on the Lions' defense after signing a five-year deal worth a reported $68 million. The team made Suh the second overall pick in April
