D.D. Joiner scored a game-high 23 points, including the first two points of the game, and Rio Grande never trailed throughout a 67-65 victory over Campbell Wednesday night in a nonconference upset.

Rio Grande, an NAIA Division II team from Ohio, opened the game on a 14-2 run and led 42-34 at halftime. Joiner, who grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double, was 5 for 9 on 3-pointers while Rio Grande (5-7) shot 8 for 23 overall from beyond the arc.

Campbell (3-7) had three players in double figures, led by Trey Freeman with 18 points. Leek Leek came off the bench to score 16 points on 5-for-6 shooting, hitting both of his 3-point attempts and his only free throw. Darian Hooker added 12 points.

Campbell got within two points in the final minute. But Karl Moore's steal and basket with 13 seconds left were decisive, offsetting a last-second Campbell basket.
