Halloween NFL Round Up: Cruz Saves Giants, Cowboys Nightmare, and More

Victor Cruz saves the game for the New York Giants

Let’s start this week’s round up on a positive note, as long as you’re not a Miami Dolphin’s fan.

The New York Giants were losing to the 0-7 Fins with just under six minutes to go in the fourth quarter in the cold and sludgy MetLife Stadium at the Meadowlands in New Jersey.

Were the Giants going to get on that train to disappoints-ville?

QB Eli Manning threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to WR Victor Cruz who salsa dances in the end zone and further into our Latino hearts.

Cruz ended the day with 7 receptions for 99 yards.  Cruz has had one of the more exciting seasons so far, not always on the positive side, but its always entertaining.

Watching this game if you’re a Cowboys fan, like myself, probably gave you the same feeling of nausea and anger that I had.

The G-men beat the Dolphins 20-17.  They are 5-2 and lead the NFC East.

The Cowboys get brutalized, Castillo’s Eagle’s wake up

They were prematurely called the “dream team,” the Philadelphia Eagles were the popular early season pick to win it all.

They had acquired the best talent available and with QB Michael Vick in charge they were unstoppable right?

WRONG.  They started the season 2-4 and new defensive coordinator Juan Castillo has taken the brunt of the criticism.

But on Sunday night the team everyone expected early on showed up and the uneven but talented Dallas Cowboys were just outright handled by the Eagles in every aspect of the game.

QB Tony Romo was unable to come up with any offense and the Eagles ran all over the Boy’s top ranked defense, defeating them 34-7.

Watching this game if you’re a Cowboys fan, like myself, probably gave you the same feeling of nausea and anger that I had.

This was almost just as bad as a last minute squeaker where the other team won on a last minute drive.

I imagine watching this game was similar to watching a snuff film.

After the first few minutes you figure out what you’re watching, then it gets unbearable, and then you just feel disgusted with yourself for what you’ve seen.

I felt like Nic Cage in “8MM.”

Rivera’s Panthers lose

Head coach Ron Rivera’s Carolina Panther’s faced the Minnesota Vikings and their new starting QB Christian Ponder.

Panthers QB Cam Newton was once again solid throwing 3 touchdown passes and no interceptions.

But Ponder has something Newton and Rivera don’t have… RB Adrian Peterson who helped hold off the Panthers for a 24-21 win.

Other Notes:

Mark Sanchez & his New York Jets had a bye this week.

Tony Gonzalez & his Atlanta Falcons had a bye this week.
