Gonzalez hits HR in 1st Dodgers at-bat

Stepping up to the plate to standing ovation with runners on the corners in the bottom of the first inning, Adrian Gonzalez smacked a three-run homer in his first official at-bat as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Hitting fourth behind Matt Kemp, and after ripping the first offering from Miami Marlins starter Josh Johnson just foul down the right field line, Gonzalez walloped the second pitch as it hooked around the right field foul pole to give LA a 4-1 lead.

Gonzalez gave a high-five to his teammates when entering the dugout as the raucous crowd cheered on.

Earlier in the day, Gonzalez was traded from the Boston Red Sox to the Dodgers. Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford and Nick Punto were also sent to Los Angeles. In return, the Red Sox received first baseman James Loney, pitcher Allen Webster, infielder Ivan De Jesus and two players to be named later.
