Gary Flowers scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Southern Mississippi in a 67-60 win over Marshall on Saturday night.

The Golden Eagles (18-5, 7-3 Conference USA) led by 13 points with 4:47 to play before the Thundering Herd pulled within three, 63-60, with 36 seconds left.

Maurice Bolden then scored off an offensive rebound after a missed free throw, and was fouled. He converted the three-point play to give Southern Miss a 66-60 cushion. He then blocked Damier Pitts' drive at the other end of the court.

Flowers made one of two free throws with 25.4 seconds left, and Marshall (15-8, 3-5) missed on its last two shots.

Angelo Johnson had 13 points, D.J. Newbill had 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Josimar Ayarza had 10 points for the Golden Eagles, who improved to 10-1 at home.

DeAndre Kane led Marshall with 20 points.
