Just one day before the draw for the Champions League group stage, Turkish champions Fenerbahce have been removed from the competition due to an ongoing investigation into match fixing involving the club.

Turkey's Football Federation held an emergency meeting before withdrawing the team, and it is unclear how UEFA will pick a replacement ahead of the 32-team draw on Thursday.

Trabzonspor finished second in the Turkish league last season, but they were eliminated from the competition in the qualifying rounds and have also been implicated in the match-fixing scandal, meaning that Turkey could lose its place in the Champions League entirely.
