Chris Long scored 21 points and Elon kept North Carolina-Greensboro winless by beating the Spartans 80-65 on Monday night.

Long, who was 16 for 20 from the free-throw line, scored at least 20 points for the third time in four games and reached the 1,000-point mark in his career for the Phoenix (8-8, 2-3 Southern Conference). They shot 43 percent on 22 of 51 shooting and held a 39-31 rebounding advantage in winning for the fourth time in five games.

Drew Spradlin added 18 points and Jack Isenbarger added 16 for Elon.

Brian Cole scored a career-high 15 points, and Aloysius Henry and Korey VanDussen added 10 apiece to lead UNC Greensboro (0-15, 0-5).

The Spartans, who entered the contest as one of four winless teams in Division I, continued the worst start in program history and extended the longest losing streak in school history to 16.
