Dwyane Wade chooses not to play in Heat preseason opener against Hawks

MIAMI – Dwyane Wade says he is going to miss the Miami Heat's preseason opener against the Atlanta Hawks.

Wade was penciled into the starting lineup originally announced by the team. Wade said about 45 minutes later that he's not playing, simply to "take a little easy, a little slower."

Wade says he will be ready when the Heat practice on Tuesday. He says he doesn't want any setbacks this early in the preseason, so he's taking more of a day-to-day approach and listening to his body more than ever before.

Wade is entering his 11th NBA season, all with the Heat.
