The Miami Dolphins retained the services of Steve Slaton, signing the running back on Wednesday.

The Dolphins claimed Slaton off waivers from the Houston Texans in late September, and the native of suburban Philadelphia totaled 64 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries along with three kick returns for 85 yards in six combined games.

A third-round pick in the 2008 draft, Slaton enjoyed a successful rookie campaign, rushing for 1,282 yards and nine touchdowns.

His production has steadily declined, however. In 2009, the West Virginia product rushed for 437 yards and two seasons ago, with the emergence of Arian Foster, Slaton carried the ball just 19 times for 93 yards.

For his career, Slaton has rushed for 1,896 yards and 13 scores on 442 attempts in 45 games.
