Dodgers turn to Greinke versus Brewers

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Dodgers have a good chance at getting back on track with Zack Greinke set to take the mound Monday against the Milwaukee Brewers in the second test of a four-game series at Miller Park.

The Dodgers had a four-game winning streak stopped with Monday's 4-3 loss to the lowly Brewers and hope Greinke can even this set. Greinke is 4-0 with a 1,93 earned run average in five starts and Los Angeles is unbeaten in his last four outings.

Greinke gave up three runs in six innings of a 7-3 win over San Francisco last Wednesday and has lasted at least six innings in every start. The right-hander has won both of his away starts and the former Brewer is 0-2 with a 4.76 ERA in four career meetings (3 starts) with Milwaukee.

Clayton Kershaw took the hill in Monday's loss and did not record a decision, charged with three runs and five hits in 7 1/3 innings. Chris Hatcher was dealt the loss for allowing the go-ahead run in Milwaukee's three-run eighth inning.

"Any loss is frustrating and disappointing," Kershaw said.

Joc Pederson homered and Yasmani Grandal finished 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Dodgers.

The Brewers have won three in a row and four of their last five games, and opened the Craig Counsell era on a high note. Counsell made his managerial debut for the Brewers and replaced Ron Roenicke, who was fired on Sunday after four-plus seasons.

Hector Gomez homered, Carlos Gomez had an RBI double and Ryan Braun drove in a run during the big eighth inning.

"That's as good as it gets. That's a team win," Counsell said. "A lot of guys contributed to that win."

Matt Garza gets the nod for Milwaukee Tuesday and is 2-3 with a 4.60 earned run average in five starts. He ended a personal two-game slide the last time out in an 8-3 victory at Cincinnati last Wednesday and held the Reds to a pair of runs in 6 2/3 innings.

Garza has lost both of his home starts this season and will face the Dodgers for the first time.

The Brewers took five of six the meetings with LA last season.
