Irving, TX – Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant told a group of reporters following Thursday's practice that he's playing Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
"Only thing y'all need to know is I'm playing," Bryant said.
Bryant fractured his left index finger during last Sunday's emotional victory at Cincinnati. He met with a hand specialist Wednesday who confirmed the finger required surgery.
The 24-year-old has decided to put off surgery with his team fighting for a playoff spot.
Bryant caught passes in Thursday's practice with his left hand in a white glove that had a hole for his fractured left index finger to stick out.
"We don't have a definitive plan for Dez right now," said Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett following Thursday's morning practice. "He did see the doctor yesterday (Wednesday). Nothing has really changed. We're going to see how he feels today (Thursday) and see if there's a chance that he can play. He went through the walkthrough yesterday. He didn't do anything in practice yesterday. Seemed like he was feeling fine. But we have to make a decision there as to what we want to do. Dez is certainly a part of that decision. The medical analysis is part of that decision as well."
Bryant leads the team with 75 catches, 1,028 receiving yards and nine touchdowns this season.
Dallas enters Sunday's tilt trailing the New York Giants by one game for first place in the NFC East and is behind by the same margin in the race for the conference's two Wild Card spots.
