Glasgow, Scotland (SportsNetwork.com) - Jo Inge Berget struck twice in the second half on Saturday as defending Scottish champions Celtic ran out comfortable 6-1 winners over Dundee United at Celtic Park.

Three days after opening their title defense with a 3-0 win over St Johnstone, Celtic took the lead after just four minutes when Belgian defender Jason Denayer opened his account.

Kris Commons made it 2-0 in the 28th minute for the Hoops and Stefan Johansen netted a third goal in the 34th minute of play.

After the intermission, Anthony Stokes got into the scoring mood and Berget netted to make it 5-0 just past the hour mark.

John Rankin pulled one back in the 71st minute for Dundee United but it was merely a consolation goal as Berget completed his brace in the 90th minute to wrap up all three points for the defending champions.

The result sees Celtic rise to second place in the table with six points, while Dundee United remains in fourth place with six points after three matches.

Also in Scotland on Saturday, Gary Fraser and Craig Wighton swapped goals as Dundee and Partick Thistle played to a 1-1 draw at Dens Park, while a 16th- minute goal from Darian MacKinnon handed Hamilton a 1-0 win against St Johnstone.

Greg Tansey and Aaron Doran scored for Inverness in a 2-0 win over Motherwell, while Saturday's final fixture in the SPL saw Kilmarnock claim a 2-1 win over Ross County at Victoria Park.
