ST. LOUIS (Reuters) - St. Louis Cardinals All-Star slugger Albert Pujols left Sunday's game against the Kansas City Royals with a sprained left wrist suffered during a play at first base.

Kansas City's Wilson Betemit hit a slow roller up the middle and then made contact with Pujols while trying to beat the throw to first base, according to a report posted on the Cardinals' website.

The contact knocked Pujols's glove off and the nine-times All-Star eventually took a few steps while holding his wrist before dropping to the ground in pain.

Pujols was 3-for-3, including a home run in the fifth inning that gave St. Louis a 3-2 lead, before leaving the game. The Cardinals went on to win the game 5-4.
