Flushing, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The St. Louis Cardinals recalled pitcher Tyler Lyons from Triple-A Memphis to start Monday's series opener against the New York Mets at Citi Field.

Lyons, 26, is filling in for Joe Kelly, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list last week with a strained left hamstring.

The left-hander was 2-0 with a 3.32 earned run average in three starts for Memphis this season. He made his major league debut with the Cardinals in 2013, going 2-4 with a 4.75 ERA in eight starts and four relief appearances.

To make room for Lyons on the roster, the Cardinals optioned pitcher Jorge Rondon to Memphis.
