Braves acquire Uribe from Dodgers

Los Angeles, CA ( - The Atlanta Braves acquired infielder Juan Uribe as part of a six-player trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers finalized on Wednesday.

The Dodgers also sent pitcher Chris Withrow to Atlanta and received infielder Alberto Callaspo and pitchers Eric Stults, Ian Thomas and Juan Jaime from the Braves.

The 36-year-old Uribe hit .260 with 28 homers and 155 RBI in 407 games with Los Angeles from 2011-15.

Withrow last pitched on May 20, 2014 due to undergoing Tommy John surgery and an offseason back procedure. He is expected to be back for the second half of the season.

Callaspo, who signed a one-year deal with the Braves in December, has hit just .206 in 37 games this season. The southpaw Stults was 1-5 with a 5.85 ERA in nine games -- eight starts -- with Atlanta this year.

Thomas made his MLB debut with Atlanta last season and has gone 1-2 with a 3.94 ERA in 21 combined appearances from 2014-15. Jaime possesses a 100 mph fastball but was demoted to the minors this season due to control issues. He has walked 13 batters in 13 2/3 innings over the past two years.

Following the trade, the Dodgers designated pitchers Eric Stults and Sergio Santos for assignment and optioned pitcher Ian Thomas to Oklahoma City. They also recalled outfielder Chris Heisey from Oklahoma City.
