Savalace Townsend scored 18 points, Terrell Kennedy added 17 and Daniel Broughton had 16 to lead Arkansas-Pine Bluff to a 73-63 win over Grambling State on Saturday night.

The Golden Lions (4-16, 4-4 Southwestern Athletic Conference) shot 51.9 percent from the floor (28 of 54) and led throughout except for a 1:15 stretch early in the first half.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff extended its lead to as many as 16, 62-46, with 4:49 left to play. Allen Smith scored 10 points for the Golden Lions, who won despite being outrebounded 41-32.

Justin Patton scored 23 points and pulled down 15 rebounds for the Tigers (3-17, 1-7), who have lost nine of their last 10 contests. Donald Qualls added 10 points.

Grambling State ended the game going 22 for 53 from the field (41.5 percent), but went just 16 for 31 from the free-throw line (51.6 percent).
