NEW YORK (Reuters) - Jonathon Niese tossed seven scoreless innings to give the injury-riddled New York Mets a 3-0 victory over the Washington Nationals on Wednesday.
Niese struck out seven batters and closer Francisco Rodriguez battled through the ninth to help the Mets (20-22) enjoy some rare good news in a difficult week of added injury woes.
All-Star third baseman David Wright joined first baseman Ike Davis on the disabled list with a back ailment on Tuesday, yet the Mets manufactured a win to pull level with the Nationals (20-22) in a share of bottom spot in the National League East.
Jose Reyes led the offense with three hits and two runs scored, while Justin Turner went 2-for-4 and delivered a two RBI double in the sixth inning.
